At Inspire, the World Languages Department seeks to immerse students in the experience of real world communication through the use of 90%+ Target Language in the classroom. I believe all students can acquire another language, and it's done best with lots of practice and enjoyment. Language connects us with others and makes us better citizens of the world!
I earned my BA and teaching credential at Chico State, but I am originally from Fresno, CA. I also lived for three years in Canada in middle school. My love of other languages sparked while learning French in school there, traveling to Mexico as a child, then touring central Europe on a high school summer trip. I studied abroad in Mexico in college, and have visited other countries in the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Europe. Over the last ten years I've been a part of a project helping the rural poor in Honduras and Nicaragua develop and own their own land, which has been an amazing experience.
So I clearly love what I teach, but I also love teaching high school students! You crack me up, challenge me, and inspire me.
I have a super cool husband, Luke, and two energetic kids. Maia is 8 and Wiley is 6. We love to cook colorful food, play Legos, sing and dance to Waka Waka, play ball outside, watch Wild Kratts, and study maps.
